April Spotlight - Jack Rowan
On 20th April Channel 4 started screening a new mini TV series called Born to Kill, a psychological thriller with Jack Rowan as a lead. This chilling drama delves into the dark mind of a serial killer Sam, a teenager who's on the verge of acting out hidden psychopathic desires. On the day of my first shoot with Jack in early 2016, I could easily picture, this highly talented 19 years old, in See No Evil: The Moors Murders... So, Born to Kill brought a broad smile on my face and a great hope that Jack will follow this direction and throughout his career, create a portrait of a present-day troubled mind with its unleashed drives that lay bare themes of violence, obsession and fantasy.
Overview
Jack's film and television credits include playing the guest lead character, Kevin Garvey, in the BBC series 'Silent Witness' and the lead in Sean Buckley's 'Polar Bear' for Film 4/Inflammable Films. On stage Jack has taken part in numerous 'National Theatre Connections' plays and various showcases. He is an accomplished amateur boxer with 27 competitive bouts to date, and also has a love for performance poetry; from which he has gone on to write and perform his own material. Jack is currently shooting 'Born to Kill' for Channel 4, he plays the lead role of Sam.
